Summer Makeup

My makeup collection is pretty minimal. I have my go-to products that I use on a daily basis and then a few different eyeliners and shadows that I’ll use for special occasions. Most of my cosmetics are very neutral and can be worn during any season, but I wanted to add some summery hues to my collection. I love the peach and gold colors that are popular right now—they are so warm and bright. These are a few of my latest purchases that have helped update my look for the warmer months.

I don’t own many lipsticks, but I love the beauty posts I’ve seen lately with peachy lips. I wanted to find one that was more on the coral side, not too red or orangey. The Make Up For Ever lipstick in N51 ended up being the winner! I love that it’s bright without being too much of a statement lip.

Whether or not it’s summer, I swear by Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara. It doesn’t go on clumpy, but still gives you full lashes. When I want to go nearly makeup-free in the summer, I’ll just brush on some mineral powder and then apply some mascara for a natural look.

Nail polish and I do not get along. I’m terrible at applying it and if it goes on alright, it’ll end up chipping or smudging in just a few hours. I decided to try this Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Malibu Peach because I love having color on nails and heard that gel polishes are supposed to last longer. My expectations were low, but I was shocked that it lasted almost a week! The bright coral looked great on my fingers and toes.

When it comes to foundation in the summer, I just brush on a layer of the Bare Minerals powder. It evens out my skin tone and has SPF. To add a little extra coverage, I put some of this Laura Mercier Secret Concealer under my eyes before applying the loose powder. I’ve noticed that it really brightens up my face.

I have been trying to expand by beauty product collection and have found that palettes are the easiest way to do that. The Color Compatibles from BareMinerals is perfect for summer with its peachy shades and metallic eyeshadows. I like to mix the blush and bronzer to add some color to my face since I am pale no matter what season it is.

If you have any products you recommend, I would love to hear about them :)
