Mid-Century Modern

One home décor trend that I’m loving right now is the Mid-Century Modern look. It might be the Mad Men binge-watching or bright summer colors that are everywhere, but I’ve slowly been bringing the sleek style into my own home. Vintage-inspired pieces are making a serious comeback! I’ve combined my personal style with this trend to add a bohemian, shabby-chic touch. It reminds me of something you’d see in Palm Springs, with the bright colors, retro furnishing and chic simplicity. The desert vibe is more and more evident in my home décor—I guess that’s what happens after living in Vegas for two years!

Mid-Century Modern is all about mixing colors and textures. It helps to start with one statement piece, such as the bright, geometric rug from Chairish. This is a great online marketplace for buying and selling vintage and used furniture. They have some beautiful, unique designs that embody this style. After you have a focal point, look for other items that don’t necessarily match, but still complement it. These solid chairs match the hues in the rug, but don’t look perfectly placed. Mixing patterns and colors is key to achieving this eclectic style. Add some pieces with sleek, straight lines and you’ve mastered the look! These are a few of my favorite Mid-Century Modern pieces.
