I tell my husband this every week and he just laughs now because it NEVER happens, but today I really mean it. I am going to start eating healthier! After splurging on our two-week vacation for our wedding and honeymoon, it’s time to get back to a diet that is more nutritious. My favorite way to get a lot of fruits and vegetables is through smoothies because they are convenient and delicious! I make them for breakfast and they actually hold me throughout the entire morning (unlike the sugary, unhealthy cereals that I love).

I’ve been making a lot of smoothies lately, so Chobani Greek yogurt is something we always stock up on while making our weekly grocery trips to Smith’s. I’m also pretty excited that Kroger Family of Stores will be hosting Smoothie Week September 4 – 6! They will be doing in-store demos with Chobani and I’m always looking for new smoothie ideas.

Since I’m not much of a salad person, I like to make green smoothies as an alternative. For these smoothies I like to use the non-fat plain Chobani Greek Yogurt because it’s versatile and adds protein. When I’m using ingredients like spinach or kale, I make sure to add some sweetness with either fruits or a little bit of honey. This one had the perfect balance of sweets and greens. Plus adding the yogurt gives it a creamier consistency. Sometimes I also add a little bit of ginger to help your digestive system, but this yogurt has three kinds of probiotics which also helps with that.

Now for another favorite: the classic strawberry banana. I lived off of these smoothies when I was little and can still remember my dad making them for us every day after basketball practice. They are just so sweet and delicious! I used vanilla Chobani Greek yogurt as the base for this recipe and also added chia seeds and oats to sneak in some more nutrients. I like to keep my smoothies as low in sugar as possible, so it’s nice that Chobani has 40% less sugar than regular yogurts and no artificial flavors or sweeteners. Also, it has only natural ingredients and are not genetically modified.

You know I have never personally made a green smoothie but I really should. This sounds delicious. I need to start eating healthier too. Now with school starting perhaps I can focus on me a bit more. Thanks for sharing! #client

    • I’ve learned that the key with making green smoothies is adding some sweet ingredients, too, because I’ve made some nasty ones in the past haha, you just have to play around with it :)
