My Thanksgiving traditions have changed a lot in the past few years. I used to spend it at my grandparents’ house up in Washington eating traditional dishes and relaxing with family. Since moving to Las Vegas and getting married, the holidays are definitely different. Rob and I haven’t established any new Thanksgiving traditions yet since each year has varied with work schedules, but I’m excited to start creating some consistency. The first year that we lived in Las Vegas, my sister and brother-in-law were stationed at the Marine base in 29 Palms so they drove over for the weekend and we cooked a big feast. Then last year Rob was on an assignment in Washington DC, so we weren’t able to spend any of the holidays together. I’m happy to have him home this year even though he does have to spend most of the day at work. To celebrate, I’m going to bring a pumpkin pie to the potluck on base and then we are going to a friend’s house for dinner—maybe this is the start of our married life traditions! I hope everyone has a great day reflecting on what they are thankful for. At the top of my list: my husband, family and friends.
