DIY Easter & Spring Décor

DIY-Easter-Decor

Last weekend I had the opportunity to put together a spring table setting and hosting tips for a segment on our local news. I had so much fun picking out festive Easter items from Paper Mart, such as pastel-colored ribbons, patterned cupcake wrappers and springtime party décor. Hosting a gorgeous gathering doesn’t have to be expensive—I’m all about affordability as you know from the sale finds I write about! With some simple DIYs and these party planning tips, you can save on cost while not skimping on style.

Dress up a simple vase or basket with ribbon. Fresh flowers are always a must for a spring tablescape. I bought some beautiful blue hydrangeas from Trader Joe’s to place in a simple cylindrical vase and then wrapped ribbon around it to add a unique touch. You can also jazz up any kind of basket for Easter morning. It doesn’t have to be traditional—I went with a wood, short-handled one instead of wicker to give it a more modern look.

DIY-Easter-Favors

Wrap candies with tulle and ribbon to create fashionable favors. I’m obsessed with mini Cadbury eggs this time of year. The pastel colors make them the perfect sweet treat to pass out as favors. To festively wrap them, start with a round piece of tulle and place the chocolates in the center. Then gather the fabric at the top and secure with a small, clear hair tie. Wrap with a thin ribbon and voilá!

Mix in some patterns, like gingham and lace. I love gingham and lace when it comes to clothing, but my obsession doesn’t stop there. The pretty pattern and feminine fabric make for great décor additions. With the light shades of blue and pink, this gingham roll can be used for Easter and throughout the year (maybe baby showers or gender reveals?!). The burlap and lace brings a rustic-chic look to the mix. Plus it would be so cute used for a barn wedding!

paper-straws

Display paper straws in a mason jar. I did this at our wedding with pink and gold straws to match our colors. For spring, this mix of aqua, navy and lavender is beautiful! They are too cute not to be on display!

Use paper doilies as mini placemats. Like I’ve said before, I love lace. These delicate doilies break up a solid tablecloth or surface and make for adorable little placemats for baked goods. They could also be used for wrapping gifts (think layering it over a brown paper package and tied up with twine).

cupcake-wrappers

Decorate cupcakes with paper wrappers. I made some lemon coconut cupcakes recently that are perfect for spring! To make them even more festive, I used these patterned paper wrappers. The colors are fun for Easter, but also could be used year-round. Plus, the scalloped edges are right on trend!
