August marked the third birthday of Treats and Trends! Although I have been writing it for more than three years, the blog has grown leaps and bounds in the past 12 months. It used to just be a place where I shared some recipes or fashion posts primarily with friends and family, but now I am partnering with some of my favorite brands and have followers outside of just my small social circle. It’s so rewarding to see a wider number of people enjoying it because I enjoy creating it. Thank you to everyone who reads and follows it, you don’t know how much it means to me! These are a few goals for the upcoming year to make it even better!
Attend a blogging conference. Whether it’s local or national, I would love to meet more bloggers in person. There is so much I could learn from hearing how other bloggers promote their posts, pitch to brands and ultimately turn this hobby into a full-time business.
Collaborate with more brands. I love working with brands and businesses that I genuinely LOVE. Sure the freebies are nice, but it’s about more than that. It’s a fun way to discover (and share!) new clothing and products, plus I like meeting more people in the industry. I want to build trust with my readers, so I would never promote something that isn’t my style or a product I wouldn’t actually use.
Get involved locally. Whether it’s a dining hot spot or the grand opening of a cute clothing store, I want to work with more local businesses. I love meeting boutique owners with my Boutique of the Week series, so it would be fun to expand on these posts. Not only are these connections beneficial to the growth of my blog, but I also love feeling personally connected to the city I live in and recognizing people at my favorite hangout spots.
Take a photography class. For my birthday last year I got a DSLR camera, which has really improved the quality of my blog photos. I kept telling my fiancé that I wanted my photos to have the blurry background, so I taught myself about aperture and what settings to use. I’m sure I could learn so much more about my camera and Photoshop, so a class would be very beneficial.
P.S. Here is the post from when Treats and Trends turned two!
