4th of July Traditions

Happy (almost) 4th of July! In honor of the upcoming weekend and throwback Thursday, I thought it would be fun to share these old photos and some of my favorite Independence Day memories. This is one of my favorite holidays because it is the epitome of summer and reminds me of fun times when I was growing up in Washington. One tradition we had was to decorate our bikes with red, white and blue crepe paper and ride them around the neighborhood while sporting our latest Old Navy flag tees. When it finally got dark, we would go watch the local fireworks show with our parents and neighbors.

As I got older, I celebrated it with my friend’s family who lived on the water, so we would spend the day Jet Skiing, cracking fresh crab and watching her cousins set off fireworks from the beach. There are so many fun memories associated with this holiday and I’m excited to make more with my soon-to-be husband (ahh that’s so weird to say!). Hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July!

These photos are so adorable!! I love this!! Happy 4th!

  • Traditions are so amazing, aren’t they? I still remember growing up spending the 4th with some family friends every year… pool games all day, a backyard barbecue, then we’d watch the fireworks. Happy 4th!
